Theia Drops Second Single And Video For “Champagne Supernova”

Coming off the success of her debut single, Roam, which hit 3 million Spotify plays in just three months, Christchurch, New Zealand-based Theia (Em-Haley Walker) returns with a new single and accompanying video for Champagne Supernova.

Inspired by the book of the same title about 90s fashion renegades, Walker was drawn to the juxtaposition of the grandeur and glory; darkness and self-destruction – champagne being a symbol for elegance and supernova being a star that shines its brightest when it’s dying. For Walker, this symbolized a way of dealing with the inner demons that maul at you in seek of escaping your earthly body and soul.”I just wanna wake, I just wanna wake up now/ Get me out of this, get me out of this somehow/ I took the pill, now I’m about to black out/ I don’t make mistakes but I’m in too deep to back out,” sings Walker over a slow burning beat that shifts between desperate cries of refuge and giving into dissonant beasts with crooked teeth.

With help from director Chris Lane and the Artistic Director of The Royal New Zealand Ballet, Francesco Ventriglia, two dancers (Veronika Maritati and Massimo Margaria) swirl around Walker, and it’s all right here.
