Back in November, I had the great pleasure of sitting down with local outfit Overlapse, shortly after the release of their debut album, There’s Nothing In The Annex. Now, the emerging trio have shared their first new cut since, titled Magnificent.
Continuing with their themes of jealousy, communication, and car wrecks, Magnificent is upbeat with a 90’s-inflected dance groove. Worry not, though, for Marie Ko’s somber and wistful vocals lie at the forefront, patiently waiting with ashen envy. When summer ends and bliss morphs into the grotesque, Overlapse will be there with their new R&B-pop vibes.
