Brooklyn’s Modern Diet was formed when the members met as freshmen at NYU four years ago. Now with two EPs and one full-length project, the outfit are prepping their next album, Sit Down & Dance, featuring the single Red Eye.
Jaron Lionel lends his surreal imagery for this playful and charming animated video. Bold lines stand out in the sparse scenes as the only constant between what’s real and what’s not, while the protagonist floats and stumbles his way through dreams, or waking life, or perhaps the after-life. All this to Red Eye’s introspective, as far as your dream state allows you to be, arrangements with colors of hope, as the band serenades forest creatures at dusk and builds to a climax of luminous June bugs that dance on crashing cymbals and howl into the brilliant star-freckled night.
