Lake Stovall may be an unfamiliar name but the singer-songwriter/producer has previously worked with the likes of Ryan Hemsworth and B. Lewis (with whom he formed duo project TESSA.). It’s been over a year since his last release, ‘She’, but the San Francisco-based artist now returns with Lace.
Part sultry slow-burner, part bopper, Stovall explores the idea of intimacy and his place amongst it with honeycomb vocals and smooth production. On the single, he offered:
“‘Lace’ is about craving that intimacy. There’s also the concept of, does intimacy necessarily equal love? Becoming a singer-songwriter has forced me to neglect certain aspects of my social life and it has forced these kinds of dialogues within myself.
This record becomes the representation of a conversation with my inner self. Craving all the things that are “supposed” to bring love into a relationship and learning along the way.”
