Following our premiere of Don Lifted’s (Lawrance Matthews) last cinematic video for It’s Your World, the rising Memphis-based artist returns with another visual with Take Control of Me.
Where It’s Your World found an isolated Matthews reflecting on a recent breakup, this time around things take a grave turn. Those feelings of isolation and emptiness quickly twist into blinding rage and visceral jealousy. The salt in their breath is no longer yours to ferment in. The folds of their ivory flesh are no longer yours to swim in. The cancer in their bones is no longer yours to sink in. All that’s left is this valley of shark-mouthed giants. Now watch as they untangle knots of ashen hair, each a little tighter than the next.
